My latest discoveries have been on the Hadfield branch of my tree. My great-great-grandmother was Ann Hadfield, born in Eckington, Derbyshire in 1826 (source: 1851 Census). Her parents were Isaac Hadfield and Elizabeth Unknown. Isaac was born c1797 in Derbyshire according to the 1841 Census. In 1841 he was a smith at the Renishaw Iron Works in Eckington. He died in August 1847 of pulmonary consumption (source: death certificate). In the 1851 Census we find his widow, Elizabeth, living with her son John (a blacksmith). My g.g.grandmother, Ann, had by this time married William Thompson and had their first child, Benjamin. Ann, William and Ben are living with John and Elizbeth in 1851 (source: 1851 Census).

Isaac and Elizabeth had two other children besides my g.g.grandmother, Ann. Isaac, born 1825 and John, born 1829, both in Eckington. Isaac married Hannah Mathers in 1848 in Eckington (source: marriage certificate courtesy of Dorothy). They had eight children. John married Mary Hobson in 1851 and they had five children.
