  1. Hello, I am researching the relative of a friend. I have an account dated c.1908 where my friend’s grandfather John Alexander Pirie recalls meeting Harry Lynn at the old Alhambra in Aberdeen. Do you happen to know if Harry was Scottish or was he simply on tour. Pirie was a well-regarded Highland dancer and claims that backstage Harry would say, ‘Come awa’ma bonnie wee Scottie laddie and gies the sword dance’ which may have been a comedic attempt at a Scots brogue. Pirie suggests that Harry died in Edinburgh in poor circumstances. He goes on to refer to Harry as a famous comedian who played Jock in the Gathering of the Clans, but no more mention is made.

Pirie is proving somewhat elusive so I am trying to build up a contextual picture of his life as a MH artist so if you have any info or observations I would appreciate it.

    Thank you

    Liz
