Maud Mary MacKenzie, born 1870 in Hackney, daughter of Eliza Alice Lynn and William MacKenzie, married Thomas Gilbert on 29 February 1892 at St. Luke, Hackney. They had two sons, Thomas William, born 29 November 1892 in Hackney and Leonard, born 20 February 1899 in Hackney. Thomas Gilbert was a stoker in the Royal Navy and died between 1899 and April 15, 1900 when both sons were baptised. In the 1911 Census Maud and both sons are living at 29 Halidon Street, Lower Clapton. Maud’s occupation is listed as Paper Bag Maker. Thomas William is a draper’s assistant and Leonard is at school.

  2. hi sue my name is angela and william mckenzie was my great great grandfather my great grandmother was clarissa mackenzie,elder sister to maud,they had a younger brother william born 1872 who i know nout about.clarissa married edward james ambrose born 1861,in 1892, they had five children,three lived,edward james born 1897 killed in action 1918,ivy born 1900 died 198*not sure of ivy’s death she married but had no children as far as i know,and alice maud born 1901 my grandmother died 1985 she married ernest charles ambrose born 1900 died 1969 who was an orphan & have not been able to find any thing at all on him,my grand mother had six children four survived one of them my mother doris mable ivy born 1929 she is still living and remembers clarissa her grandmother but not maud or william,there are also no photographs as my grandmother was bombed out several times and all was lost what a shame.fondest regards angela.x
